The wait is almost over for fans of Sumiko Arai’s popular manga. The anime adaptation of The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn’t a Guy at All will premiere on January 8, 2027.
It arrives as part of the Winter 2027 anime season and will stream worldwide on Crunchyroll.
The series is also known as Ki ni Natteru Hito ga Otoko ja Nakatta, or simply “Green Yuri” because of the green color used across the manga.

Characters and Voice Cast
The two main characters are voiced by the same actresses who played them in the 2024 drama CD.

- Mitsuki Koga is voiced by Mariya Ise. She is a quiet classmate who keeps to herself and sits right next to Aya.
Plot: What Is the Story About?
Aya loves rock, but nobody around her shares the interest. Then she meets a cool CD shop employee who dresses in black from head to toe and has great taste in music. She falls for this person quickly.
What Aya does not know is that her crush is actually her classmate Mitsuki. Mitsuki knows exactly how Aya feels and is scared to tell the truth. Still, she finds herself talking to Aya more and more.
Opening Song: Nirvana’s “Breed”
The biggest surprise of the announcement was the music. The anime’s opening song is “Breed” by Nirvana, from the band’s 1991 album Nevermind. Dave Grohl himself revealed it in the teaser, saying, “Kurt Cobain would have loved this series.”
The manga has always been tied to music. Its official playlist, released by Universal Music Japan with the first volume, includes artists like Nirvana, Turnstile, and Royal Blood.
That makes fans expect a strong soundtrack with more rock songs in the anime.
